We count price according to the number of source words
Since 1 April 2006 we have been calculating prices for translations and proofreading based on the number of source words. A benefit is that there is no rounding up of standard pages. The price is accurate, unchangeable and known prior to work being started. The customer gets quote immediately after the source text is received. The calculation method is the same in the case of CAT software being used.
For the purposes of price bids, where other applicants give their prices calculated according to standard pages, we are of course able to use this previously used method as well. The price per standard page is derived from the average number of words for one standard page for the given language combination.
Cases when charging according to the number of source words cannot be used
This calculation method cannot be used for court certified translations or if there is a format that does not enable the number of source words to be ascertained electronically. Then a preliminary estimate of number of words is used for calculation purposes. The exact number of words can then be counted after the work has been completed. The price for invoicing is only then calculated according to the actual number of words in the translated text.
Court certified translations
For court certified translations the price is calculated based on “standard page”. The price calculation is rounded up to one full standard page of translated text according to Act No. 36/1967 Coll., on experts and interpreters, and Regulation No.37/1967 Coll.
